Safety is a necessary condition for strong neighborhoods. In recent years, the Foundation’s Safe Community mission area has worked with established community partners in and near Greater Downtown to increase public safety capacity and programming. The Foundation is also committed to building a safer environment through contributions to enhance street lighting and walkable spaces.
2015 Grant Highlights:
- $419,000 to Wayne State University for crime analysis and public safety services in Midtown.
- $215,000 to Downtown Detroit Partnership for crime analysis and public safety services in Greater Downtown.
- $97,500 to Jefferson East, Inc. for east Jefferson safety and security.
